When affected by the death of a loved one, loss of a pet or breakdown of a relationship, feelings of grief and loss can be particularly painful and difficult to overcome without support. Children, teens or adults need a safe space to express the feelings of grief and externalise the impact of the loss through image so they can move forward in time. Depending on the developmental age of the individual, Wyndham Arts Therapies offers a safe space to explore issues of grief or loss through various art media and creative processes including: sand tray, symbols, mandalas, paint, textiles or clay. Often times working on a project over a series of sessions to create an object to take home as a symbol of the relationship ‘then and now’ can support reorganisation of a new meaning and moving on.
